Moved to Great Torrington in 2000. Previously worked for a large Insurance Broker as an Operations Manager dealing with Personnel and Training and ensuring objectives for revenue, expenditure and profit levels were met. I also dealt with major negotiations with National and Local Clients.
Company Director of own Recruitment Consultancy with 3 Branches with my husband handling Recruitment and Training of Staff, Client negotiations, PR and Marketing activities.
I am involved with various local groups including North Devon Hospice for the past 20 years, I was also proud to support my husband as Mayoress of Great Torrington for four terms.

Married to and we celebrated our Golden Anniversary in August 2020. One daughter Sarah who works at Lloyds Pharmacy. Grandson -Owen who works as a Ladies hairdresser
Irene and I moved to N. Devon in January 1972. I worked as a production manager in the clothing industry until 1979. From 1980 until 2009 I worked in S. Molton as Purchasing Officer. From 2010 until retirement in 2016 worked as Retail Administrator in RHS Rosemoor.
For 25 years I was a football referee until my legs packed up and then was a Referee Assessor for a further 10 years.I am a Life member and Treasurer of the Barnstaple Male Voice choir – joined in 1995 and still very active – Covid allowed?
Matt Whittaker helps run a successful internet business with his wife from his home in Great Torrington. On moving to Torrington Matt has worked hard to be part of the wonderful community and is keen to develop Torrington based on the uniqueness of what the town has.
I’ve only lived in Torrington just over a year – it’s an amazing place to live! I manage a live in care company and co-run Death Matters North Devon. I live with my husband and dog, who you might see sitting on the couch looking longingly out the window. Dog that is, not husband.

Sue was born in nearby Langtree and has always been passionate about supporting the regeneration of Torrington. She has served as Mayor of Torrington on three occasions and is currently the acting Chair of Great Torrington Town & Community Hall
Carolyn Walker is the owner of Birchill Farm and Cottages in Langtree and has been living in Devon for two years.
Prior to moving to Devon, she ran and events business – Simply Spectacular Events – working on weddings, parties, fashion shows and charity events.
She is looking forward to helping the Town Hall with the staging, arranging and dressing of events for future clients in this beautiful venue.
